About the Event

There will be exercises, games and challenges to unlock your imaginations and get your creative juices flowing. We’ll explore how to generate content, basic story structure, and getting out of a writer’s block.

This workshop will also include a discussion with resources on how to practically and pragmatically get your writing staged, showcased and funded.

This workshop is for everyone, whether you’re an experienced thespian, an artist who’s used to writing for a different format, or if you just have the itch to start writing, come along! All you need is yourselves, your imaginations, and if you have them, a favourite pen and paper.

Will Jackson is a Birmingham based theatre-maker who specialises in queer work and comedy. He was named a "Rising Comic Star” by Attitude Magazine for his show Yours Sincerely which has since toured the UK to critical acclaim. He graduated from DTA in 2017 and has since been commissioned by organisations including Rural Media & BBC Arts. He's an associate artist of National Youth Theatre, was a Birmingham REP Foundry artist and one of the Bush Theatre's 6 emerging writers of 2019. His work has been funded by Peggy Ramsay Foundation, Arts Council England & The National Centre for Writing.
